My Reading Habits

I think I’m a pretty random person when it comes to reading. I notice some readers sort of have a plan or say a routine to reading while I’m more the type to read at any given time.  I probably read at least 4-5 days in a week.

When I’m reading I like to do it a few times a day. Normally I’ll read for maybe thirty minutes in the morning and return to the same novel hours later.  Normally I try to finish each book I start within a week or two. I have so many novels to read or soon to be read that I kind of force myself into finishing them faster which usually is not such a problem. I like to read at least two books at once. It really helps me to keep my focus and interest alive.

When I’m reading I’m normally sipping at a glass of water, juice, sometimes a hot chocolate or even a milkshake. It’s bizarre I know, yet I just cannot read without drinking something.  I’m a big fan of H20. I usually drink at least six glasses of water a day or every other day. Somehow I do not go to the bathroom as much as you’d think after drinking so much water in one setting. The most glasses of water I’ve drank in one day was seventeen. I think that is the closest a man will ever get at feeling pregnant.

Some months I read more often. Other months I get behind which makes me sad, but that is silly. My attention sort of switches on and off based on the novel I’m reading or whatever is going on in my life at the moment. The average number of pages I read is about twenty or less. On my best reading days I can scroll over 100 pages in one day. My favorite genre’s are young adult and fantasy.

Lately I’ve been reading more often in the evening. I switch into my PJ’s and grab a book. Reading is such a great escape from social media or the television. Plus it helps me to fall asleep faster.

What are your reading habits normally like?  Are some similar to mine? What did you think of this post?  I would like to start doing more chatty posts like this. People seem interested with my life and thoughts,  so I’ll give the people what they desire. Let me know your thoughts below 🙂

What Is Happiness?

Maybe I’m acting like a total philosopher right now, yet   I’ve been thinking about the definition of certain words lately. Total writer problem right? Right now I’m thinking about the term happiness. We all feel happy at certain moments. Hopefully we’re more happy rather than sad, yet what does happiness truly mean? Lets take a closer look shall we?

When I think about happiness it means something joyful. Maybe something incredible is happening in such a person’s life that it put them into a good mood. Maybe they got a new job, moved into a better location,  adopted a puppy, or got a tweet re-tweeted by someone famous like Howie Mandel( and that totally happen once). That at least gets me feeling good. Something so amazing happen that brings out good spirit. It puts a smile on our face. Since happiness comes from feeling good is it possible to feel happy while doing something wrong? Of course I’ll answer with no, yet there are some who seem to experience joy by causing others pain and misery. It’s morbid to say, yet kind of true. I guess happiness is a more complicated topic than I thought?

This leads me to another question. Is happiness important to every day life? Without a doubt I believe happiness is vital for every day life. If someone is feeling down they’ll most likely have a bad day. If we’re happy, even in the worst day ever, we can still manage to have a successful day. Happiness should lead to positive mojo, so how do we reach the goal of happiness if our world is falling down all around us?

The other day I found a bookmark that had been missing for a long time. Frankly I forgot even having this bookmark. Anyways this bookmark has Psalm 23 on the front. The back of this bookmark has a warm message from my now deceased grandmother. i feel as if God was sending me a message of how to have happiness. This verse is encouraging and to know that my grandmother once gave me this brings me joy.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside still waters,
    he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,[a]
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Psalm 23 spreads happiness from beginning to end. The Lord knows we will have days of trouble. Satan thirst over our weakness’s. We may believe that we’re lacking, yet God reminds us constantly that we’re well. We must find happiness, because happiness is important. Happiness brings us an energy Red Bull does not give. Books are one item which brings me happiness. My friends definitely bring me happiness. Happiness is a substantial positive.   Since it’s the week of Thanksgiving, we should give thanks to God for every blessing. Don’t worry, be happy!

Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

Wow, today is November first! 2016 has been flying by. Pretty soon we Yankee’s will be slicing turkey, sharing gifts, and be merry as we celebrate the beginning of a new year. For me at least I cannot wait for this year to end. There has been a lot of drama within my life this year. The devil seems to be pricking my voodoo doll constantly. Lets just say it has been a year of too much drama.

This year I’ve kind of felt like Luna Lovegood in Deathly Hollows. In Order of the Phoenix and The Half Blood Prince, Luna is seen as this cheerful soul with little worries. In the final Harry Potter novel the chaos consumes her.  Luna is still Luna, yet she’s somewhat broken and had changed. From discussing politics, faith, right, wrong and so forth I’m now officially  drained. I’ve fought the good fight for sure. I’ve actually told others no instead of going along with the crowd to keep the peace. I’ve stood my ground and stuck to my conscience which has brought a lot of conflict. I do not wish any will ill toward anyone, yet the comments I’ve heard and been told have really struck a cord. I firmly forgive others, yet I cannot seem to forget. I admit that my passion can get the better of me, yet I will not take back what I’ve said. Words are like air. Eventually they drift away.

With all of the issues facing our world today I continue to ask myself this question” Is this what God wants?”

As believers we may sometimes quickly assume how God thinks. We assume that, because some topic may bother us it must also bother Him. We have this idea that terrible things do not happen which is simple false. On Sunday, my dad went to say hello to one of our church’s elder pastors. Likewise to Luna Lovegood, pastor Dan is normally very cheerful, but not this moment, because pastor Dan is a huge Chicago Cubs fanatic. He look sort of sad, telling my father that” sometimes evil does win,” referring to the Cleveland Indians. I think Americans, being so blessed, we sometimes forget that evil lurks all around us. I’m glad that more people are noticing that today, yet I think the division does not help.

Besides worldly problems I’m also dealing with the loss of my grandmother. Today my mom’s parents are no longer with us. It feels so strange. Recently I read from the book of Job. Job was an innocent man, yet his life turned out very unfortunate. He had a firm faith in God, yet even he could not understand exactly why such terrible things were happening to him. Job did nothing wrong. Why do terrible things happen to good people?

I’ve come to the conclusion that sometimes bad things happen. There does not have to be a reason behind it. We do not have to blame God, family, pets, or even our lucky socks when something terrible happens.  Sometimes evil does win, yet that should not be an excuse to  lose any hope.

I do not know what will happen in 2017. What I do know is there are some good things and some bad things that will probably happen. 2016 has been a rocky, deplorable  year, yet it has reminded me how much support I have. God has given me so many blessings.  I do not have to hide my feelings any longer. At least to me it’s better to show shame than to hide it.  After His crucifixion and resurrection,   Jesus visited the disciples. In a more perfect heavenly form, He still had the scars on his body. We all have scars and we’re all broken in someway or another. The devil wants us to feel ashamed. He wants us to feel as if our sins keep us away from God when that is what can draw us even closer to Him.  Jesus did not enter this world to mock the weak. Jesus came to heal the broken. He tossed away the stones, broke bread, and told His followers to” Take up your cross and follow Me.”

I’ll end this lengthy  post here with this. Thank you very much to everyone who reads my blogs. When I first joined WordPress I was eager to find a site to connect with others.  I’m grateful for all the feedback. It amazes me that I’m able to inspire. That feels so good, nonetheless I may take a short break from blogging or create less blogs than usual. I love sharing my thoughts with all of you, yet I need to restrain myself. I need to have some solace and a lot of fun. Plus I’m working on a novel, so that requires dedication, so take care and God bless 🙂

How To Have Fun At Home

Lets face it being at home can get boring. Home is the place where we spend most of our time. Home is where the heart is, but the heart isn’t always feeling the home.  Venturing off into the world can be fun whether it’s a trip out of town or down to Walmart to pick up a bag of chips. I don’t know if anyone else feels like this, but home feels different to me now as an adult. Like I still live in my parents home with my parents, yet the house feels more like theirs than my own. Anyways I spend a majority of my time at home, considering I do not have a full time job(hope that changes when I learn how to drive) and I was homeschooled. I take college courses online, so I’m pretty much a homebody. Anyways here are a few of my tips on how to  kill time and still have fun when you’re at home( btw I found this amazing lego house photo on Pinterest).

One of my best and favorite ways to kill time is by reading. Reading books can take boredom away so quickly. Some days I read fifteen pages while other days I may read 50 pages or more. There is so much to read, so grab a book and enter a new world.

There is always some chore that must be completed. Chores aren’t always fun, yet they can take your mind away from being bored and actually accomplish something.

The Internet

There really is no reason to get bored at home if you’re using the internet. I can go on Twitter and talk to hundreds of people. Conversations on Twitter can get very random. Twitter has brought many amazing people into my life, so if you’re reading this you know who I’m talking about! On the other hand,  Twitter can get addicting and sometimes annoying, so remember to take time away from social media as well.  Besides social media I can search for stuff online. buy products and so much more. How did civilization survive without the internet?

Whether you’re writing a best seller like me or not writing is a great way to pass time. Writing is a way to express yourself by creating a story or just jotting down thoughts.

Who says drawing is only for little kids? You can create some art and hang it on the wall for the world to see. Actually you could draw something, take a photo of it and  post it online on Twitter or Facebook so everyone can see it. The choice is yours!

Netflix is one of the most awesome ways to kill time. There is so much to watch. There are so many shows I have to catch up on.

I do not really have to explain this one do I 🙂

Working out has become a favorite of mine. I enjoy getting into shape and not wasting any time. Going for walks can really clear your thoughts and belly fat.  You can burn twenty minutes easy just by lifting weights. Do not forget to drink plenty of water.

So those are a few of my tips on how to have fun while at home. I hope you enjoyed them. Those are my tips, so let me know what your tips might be.
