Avengers: Infinity Wars Film Review

What’s up WordPress? I finally saw the newest Avengers film and absolutely loved it! Lot of characters died tho ūüė¶

The third installment was a bit grim. This had to be the darkest of Marvel films, although it had the right touch of comedy relief. And I thought you Marvel fanboys hated DC Comic films. Anywho this film was a none stop action adventure. Unlike the other Avenger films the bad guy wins. Thanos was an excellent villain, but I’m not going to sit here and act like he’s the best baddie all time. Please. Villains like Thanos had been done before, but not to his success. Thanos had motivation and a skillful plan to¬† get there. Plus the Hulk and Vison were at their weakest moment, creating havoc and chaos for the Avengers. Set backs were a must.

I enjoyed how the characters were spilt into three groups. We had Thor with Rocket Raccoon and Groot. Star Lord,  Mantis and Drax paired up with Iron Man, Doctor Strange plus Spider Man or as I like to call him reboot 2.0 Spiderboy.  Captain America( or Charon) fought along side Black Widow( Why does she have blonde hair tho)  and Sam Wilson. The trio teamed up with Bucky and Black Panther plus Vision and the Scarlet Witch, although they were more just there for the ride. Stan Lee and Peter Dinklage also played a part. The dialogue between characters was a little choppy at first, but overall it did the film justice.

This film really reminded me of the good ole days of chilling on Saturday morning, watching cartoons. It’s a huge cast of characters dealing with a crisis together. I think this was the best we could had hoped for really. Now will the success of Infinity War spoil the sequel? Maybe, yet I’m interested to see what direction the next film takes. Ironically, during the resolution, we’re left with the original Avengers members minus Hawkeye, yet I’m sure he’ll turn up soon. I noticed Ant Man wasn’t in this film, yet he has a new film coming out soon. Will Ant Man two collide with Infinity War’s story line? Maybe Deadpool will come to their rescue? Something fantastic will surely happen next.

If you saw Infinity Wars tell me what you thought. Have a great day!

The Quite Place

Yesterday I planned to see Avengers Infinity War, but couldn’t, because it was sold out. Luckily there was a sliver lining. The Quite Place was about to start. I heard good things about it from family and friends so we bought our tickets and ventured into the dimly lit theater for this joyride.

The Quite Place is like a dystopian, apocalypse, horror,¬† thriller following the life of a family from the Midwest. They’re survivors of an alien invasion. They must remain as quite as possible or else the aliens get triggered and hunt them down to eat them or split their insides out. The family live on the outskirts of a ghost town on a quaint little farm. The farm is set up for survival with trails of sand to walk across to make zero noise or lights to click on when danger is lurking about. The film started about 90 days after the attack, so we don’t really ever learn where the aliens originated from or how they got here. There was newspaper articles covering the basement walls of the families home reporting these events, so I guess I can pause and check out that information when the movie comes on Netflix or whatever.

The wife and mother( Emily Blount) is pregnant, so there is a problem. They had three children when the movie starts out, but from bad parenting and dumb mistakes their youngest child gets himself killed. Oops!

The family speak to each other by sign language. A cool nugget is the actress who played their oldest child Ragan( Millicent Simmonds) is actually¬† deaf in real life. Ragan blamed herself for her brothers death and the dad( Jared Krasinski) avoids her being put into difficult circumstances. The big problems start out when the mother’s water broke. As she’s walking down the steps of the basement she accidentally steps on a nail and cried out. Here come the aliens! A majority of the film the family is figuring out how to survive this terrible night, but do figure out how to stop these creatures during the climax.

Overall The Quite Place was a solid thriller. This movie was so quite, but full of suspense. The tension, conflict and stakes were none stop and drove the story forward without having to deal with much backstory. It does a good job of escaping those unanswered questions.  Based on reviews of this film it has done a good job of keeping the viewers engrossed in the story. The Quite Place was a true horror film, but had a deep message  of family and how far a father and mother will go to keep their family safe from danger.  The setting for this film was amazing.
I like these type of films, because they’re thrilling, yet also a bit humorous. There is scenes were you sit there and are like” Ok, that didn’t make much sense.” but it doesn’t ruin the film. It’s meant to draw the audience together and leave us with a cliff hanger. Well done. I’m unsure if this was on purpose or not, but this movie seemed to draw inspiration from Christian theme’s. As the brother and sister are struggling to survive the son fully believed their father would come to their rescue and he makes the ultimate sacrifice to keep them alive. Nicely done.

My grading for The Quite Place is 4 stars out of five.

Bokeh Film Review

Jenai( Maika Monroe) and Riley( Matt O Leary) are a young, American couple who go on a little romantic vacation in Iceland. Their romantic getaway turns bizarre when a rare flash of light shoots across the sky, leaving them as the only humans left on the island and possibly the entire world.

Stories where people go missing, get stuck in a parallel universe,  or are the only humans remaining on planet earth always capture my attention. It would be an awfully entertaining adventure, yet would grow tiresome and terrifying after awhile which is exactly what happened in this film. Cue some spoilers!

Iceland is a beautiful country. This film got me thinking about what it must had been like when Adam and Eve lived in the garden of Eden. The couple could literally do whatever they desired, but without anyone else around they got frustrated with each other. I enjoyed the conflict between the characters. Jenai believed in God, yet as days passed by, she struggled to remain strong in her faith. She went each day worrisome about how they would survive while Riley enjoyed himself although even he questioned what the freak was going on. Jenai’s fashion was fleek tho.

The story hit a fork in the road, when they met an elderly man who was all alone. His time in the film was short and sort of confusing as to why he was still alive. ¬†I don’t want to spoil too much, but Bokeh was an interesting film.¬†The ending was somewhat weak, yet I found the story compelling to say the least.
