2015 Year in Review

2015 is at the finish line. This year has gone by quickly and has taught me a lot. God has been doing big things in my life, starting with this blog. IMO New Years Eve is a great time to look back at the year, preparing for the next one.  When I think about the start of 2015 to now my life has really improved. I thought I would describe the top events of this year with photos.

Back in February my days of blogging on WordPress began. I searched through countless web domains and viewed many websites before, deciding to join. On Twitter I asked what were the top blogging websites out there and got good feedback{ that word freaks me out} from one of my best follows. I opened a WordPress account and the rest is history. Around this time in the spring I also got a HP Lap Top! It’s great for blogging, writing, and having fun on the internet.

In May I went to Universal Studios and the Islands of Adventure for the first time. While there I visited both Wizarding World parks{ the main reason I went of course}. FYI the lady in the pink hat on the far right is my mom!

In June I chilled with my friends before they left for college. Saying good bye is horrible. It’s like a small dagger being stabbed into the heart over and over again{ ok not that bad, but you get what I’m saying savvy}. Overall I’m eternally grateful for these two.  Our friendship keeps, growing no matter the distance. God has given me the greatest sisters ever!

In July I visited my grandparents. We went to  the beach although that was a bad time to go, because of the weather. It rained constantly! Still I took this cool photo at least.

Also in July I sent and received a letter from a friend of mine from Wisconsin. Her name is Haley Klinkhammer. You may find her on YouTube>https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnnQ-2UhBrazTAp7wvhkfbg. She’s amazing!

In October I got a tweet from Adam F. Goldberg! I had no idea he’d even seen the tweet I sent lol.

In September I went to a Florida St football game in Tallahassee. It rained a lot this day as well, yet cleared up. Being at the game for real is a great experience.  Can’t wait to see what Doak Campbell looks like after the improvements are made over the next few years. Go Noles!

A couple months later in November I went to the Noles/Gators game at the Swamp. FSU has defeated UF for three straight years in football{ two years in a row for basketball}. My record of attending Nole games stands at a perfect 3 and 0! I also met Jimbo Fisher which was awesome!IMG_0573.JPG

Back in August my grandfather died. His death was very quick and shocking. It’s  sad that he’s no longer with us, but I know he’s in a better place now.  With him being a member of the Navy family we decided to have his  final resting place be at Florida National Cemetery. We visited him on the way home after Thanksgiving.

Rest in Peace Grandpa Will

Last week was Christmas. Jenny and my grandparents came to visit on Christmas Eve. Christmas day we visited my grandmother and other relatives. I had a really good Christmas! On Sunday I also saw my youth group leader which was a pleasant surprise. She’s been away at seminary school. Missing people stinks, yet it reminds us how much we care about them.

So here we are now. 2015 is coming to an end. I’ve learned a lot this year. Not sure where my future is headed, but it will be full of books.  God has it all under control. A door will open. The ball will be, dropping tomorrow night, so Happy New Years!

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close Movie Review

Last night i watched this film with my mom for the first time. The film appeared on the big screen in 2011 after the heavy success from the novel which was published in 2005. Never read the book, but will probably keep my eye out for it now. I’ll give a brief review of the film and go into detail. Overall I have mixed feelings towards this film, so maybe you’ll agree or disagree? Don’t forget to leave a comment below!

Extremely Loud and Incredibly  Close is an American drama  about a nine year old  boy from New York City named Oscar Schell{Thomas Horn}. Oscar is sent on challenges from his father Thomas Schell{Tom Hanks} which involve  many riddles. Thomas created a maze of riddles for Oscar to solve. Thomas and Oscar went on  these adventures around the city. They even got friends, family, and homeless people into the hunt. The last riddle Oscar is, searching for is a secret 6th borough.  Thomas swore to his son that their once was a sixth borough in New York City that mysteriously vanished. Sadly Oscar’s world gets rocked by his father’s tragic death. Thomas was in the Twin Towers on 911. He left  six messages on their message machine, but Oscar was too afraid to answer the final message. Oscar calls this” the worst day” and he seeks answers as to why this horrible event happen. This tragic event destroys the relationship  between Oscar and his mom{Sandra Bullock} A year later while in his fathers closet Oscar finds a key within a broken vase. The key was inside of a yellow envelope with the word {Black} on the back. Oscar goes in search of this person. He finds 472 different people with the last name Black.  The first person he met was Abby Black{Viola Davis}, yet she has no clue who Thomas Schell was and what his key belongs to.

He gets help from his grandmother  which brings them closer. Oscar finally meets a man who has been, renting a space from his grandmother for a few months. Soon enough we find out that this man is Oscar’s grandfather. His grandfather communicates by, writing out his thoughts. He also has the words yes and no tattooed on his hands which is cool. Towards the end of the film Oscar finds a newspaper article about the key. Oscar returns to Abby Black’s home and finds out the truth about the key.

The movie was pretty compelling, yet in my opinion it was lacking something. It seem like they could have gotten to the point a bit faster. Yes, it is a drama, but they kind of force the sadness. I like Oscar’s character. It’s wonderful how they gave a voice to mental health. Besides that Oscar was a bit annoying to say truthfully. Why is he so mean to the bell hop? There seem to be a distance between his mom and him before the worst day happen. The people in the city were pretty calm and kind to Oscar who was interrupting their day lol.  What I like the most about this film is how it gave hope to those who may have lost someone on 911.  That frightful day still bothers me today. I was only six years old when it happen, but the memory of it remains. I can only imagine how much pain that brought to so many people. All you can do is ask why, because that is how bad things happen.

My rating for this film would be 4 out of 5 stars. If you have seen this movie let me know. Did  you like it? Have you also read the book? Cheers!

Merry Christmas 2015

Christmas went pretty well besides a few short notes by certain family members. My family remained home this Christmas except for our trip into Ocala to see my grandma and other family members. My other grandparents visited us on Christmas Eve. They’re still here and will be returned home a few hours ago. Jenny also visited us on Christmas Eve! Sadly her boyfriend Eric could not come, yet will see him soon enough. My  brother also came over with his girlfriend. This was the first time we’d met her and she was really sweet and cool.{ good job brother}. Jack was nervous around so many people, so he remained down in my room{ the little guy is a loner at best}. Sammy got in our Christmas selfie.

This Christmas we bought a few gifts instead of a boat load of gifts which turned out well. Out of five presents I got sunglasses{ you know we’re Floridan’s when you get sunglasses for Christmas}, chocolate, a basketball net like trash can{  tho I’m going to use it for socks}, a FSU doormat, and a paper back box set of Harry Potter{ best gift ever}!

Ok so I already knew about this gift since I sort of bought it for myself{ I think I mentioned that in an earlier blog?}, yet I was still very happy to see it in the flesh. My other Harry Potter books are older and somewhat warn. Thank goodness Amazon had this box set on sale, during Black Friday! It looks nice, set on my bookshelf still in the packaging{ I’ll rip it open eventually} I also got a 25 dollar ecard to Amazon from Jenny and a 25 dollar gift card to Koals from another cousin of mine named Paul. Looks like i’m rolling in dough!

Being now a full adult{ I may be short, yet I am fully grown still} Christmas has also changed. It use to be about, waking up to open a bundle of presents. Now it’s mostly about seeing family/friends and watching the next generation opening gifts. Most importantly Christmas is a time to remember Christ birth although he probably was not born in December{ I say celebrate JC’s birth anytime of the year cause the message is way more important than the date}. I can’t believe we’re goig into 2016! Hope my readers also had a merry Christmas!
